Open Windows

I live downtown in a student area. Most of the apartments are houses split into different units, and many of these houses are close to 100 years old, which means the only a/c you have is from window units. This very much encourages open windows, which can create an odd sense of community. For instance, as I was watching the close football game, I heard multiple screams of elation when our team made a good play and scored. And I can tell you that my digital cable converter has about a 5-7 sec delay compared to the analog cable my neighbor has. Try to find that in a snooty suburb. :)
